Medical Fees
When patients seek private medical consultation, they enter into a contract with their consultant.
It is the patients' responsibility to cover the costs of consultation and further management.
The cost of the intitial consultation is £200.
The cost of a follow-up consultation is £100.
The consultation fee does not include the cost for any other procedures (diagnostic or therapeutic) that might be performed at the same time of the consultation. You will be advised if any procedure is required.
In nasal examinations, often a nasal endoscopy is required to assess the inside of the nose. This is charged separate to the consultation. You will be advised beforehand.
Please note that the private hospital will also charge you (or your insurance company) for the use of their endoscopic equipment (ie nasendoscope).
Insured patients
Please note that you are responsible for payment of fees irrespective of your insurance cover.
Your insurance company will be billed but the final responsibility rests with you.
Please check your insurance scheme as you are responsible for any excess or shortfalls.
Please check if there is any limit on your outpatient allowance as you will not receive any reimbursement from your insurance company if you reach the limit.
Most ENT (and particularly nasal) conditions require endoscopic examination to check the nasal cavity (and also the throat and voice box). Please obtain authorisation for endoscopic examination (Code E2500; please use E2501 for BUPA) from your insurance company prior to your consultation. This may be performed at the time of your consultation as part of the clinical examination required to reach a diagnosis.
You will be advised if the surgical costs might not get covered by your insurance company. If the costs are above the reimbursement level set by the insurance company, you will be advised in advance. If you agree to go ahead with the operation, you will be expected to pay the difference.
Selfpay patients
The selfpay department of the private hospitals will be able to provide you with the costs and the relevant details. You will be given an estimate of the costs at the consultation.
Cosmetic clients
Mr Anari encourages the cosmetic patients to attend for a second consultation before deciding to proceed with the operation. You will not be charged for the second consultation.
Missed appointments
Please note that you or your insurance company will be charged a standard consultation fee (initial or follow-up) if you fail to attend your appointment.
If you cannot make the appointment, please call the private hospitals and cancel your appointment at least 24 hours before.
The following document from the Federation of Independent Practitioner Organisation (FIPO) explains the issues around the fees in private medical care.
